How do I keep the proposal a surprise while having a photographer there?
Many people wonder how to manage the element of surprise with a photographer in tow. It's important that we discuss strategies to remain discreet during our planning meeting together.
What kind of locations work best for a proposal photography session?
Ideal locations are those that are meaningful to the couple and offer a visually appealing backdrop, such as parks, beaches, or scenic viewpoints.
How do I choose the best time for the proposal photos?
Timing is crucial for great photos. The best times are typically during golden hour (shortly after sunrise or before sunset) for natural light.
What should I do if the weather doesn’t cooperate on the day of the proposal?
Weather can be unpredictable in Virginia so we recommend having an indoor backup location picked out or we can always reschedule the proposal if needed!
How many photos can we expect from the session, and when will we receive them?
We don't believe in putting a cap on the number of images you receive in your gallery. If a photo is good, we include it! You can expect your full gallery within 14 days.
Preserve one of life’s most memorable moments with a proposal session
How to prepare for your session:
Coordinate with the Photographer: Discuss your proposal plan with the photographer in detail. Share the location, timing, and any special elements or surprises you have planned. This helps them plan their approach and positioning.
Choose a Meaningful Location: Select a location that has personal significance or provides a beautiful backdrop for the proposal. The photographer can advise on the best spots and angles to capture the moment.
Plan the Timing: Decide on the exact time of the proposal, considering the best lighting conditions for photographs. Golden hour (shortly after sunrise or before sunset) often provides the most flattering light.
Discuss the Proposal Details: Inform the photographer about any key moments or specific shots you want, such as the ring reveal, your partner’s reaction, or any special gestures.
Prepare the Surprise: Ensure that your partner is unaware of the photography session to maintain the surprise. Communicate with the photographer about how to remain inconspicuous and avoid detection.
Practice Your Proposal: Rehearse your proposal to feel more confident and ensure you’re ready for the big moment. This can also help the photographer anticipate and capture the key moments effectively.
Check Equipment and Logistics: Ensure the photographer has all necessary equipment and has scouted the location beforehand if needed. Confirm details such as parking, access, and any permits if required.
Plan for Post-Proposal Shots: Discuss any post-proposal plans, such as a celebratory meal or a special activity, so the photographer can capture those moments as well.
